If you want to see Herzegovina’s biggest highlights Kravice Waterfalls, Blagaj, and Počitelj in one stress-free day and actually understand the stories behind them, this tour might be the smartest decision you make in Mostar.
Planning how to explore Kravice Waterfalls, Blagaj, and Počitelj from Mostar can get overwhelming fast. We’ve been there – tabs open, bus schedules half understood, car rental prices creeping up. We just wanted an easy way to see the highlights without missing the stories behind the places.
That’s exactly why we chose the Discover Herzegovina Day Tour from Mostar. Instead of stressing about logistics, we spent the day with a knowledgeable local guide who didn’t just drive us from stop to stop, but helped us truly understand what we were seeing – from Ottoman-era towns to dramatic natural landscapes and the more recent history that shaped the region.
If you’re the kind of traveler who loves beautiful scenery and meaningful context, who wants great photo spots but also real local insight, this tour hits a rare sweet spot. It’s ideal for curious travelers who don’t want to rent a car, don’t have time to decode Balkan bus timetables, and prefer hearing first-hand stories over reading plaques.
We went in expecting a convenient way to reach a few famous sights. We came back feeling like we understood Herzegovina on a much deeper level – its beauty, its complexity, and its resilience. Here’s exactly what the day looked like and whether we think it’s worth it.
We chose this Discover Herzegovina Day Tour from Mostar: Kravice Waterfalls, Blagaj, Pocitelj.
This is the itinerary for Discover Herzegovina Tour that we took. Stops might vary.
Here, we did not only get a panoramic view of Mostar but also an introduction to the history of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Through personal accounts, we gained a deeper understanding of what the city has been through – including the 1992–1995 war in Mostar – and how its resilient spirit shapes Mostar today.

At Blagaj, we visited the Buna Spring and the Dervish House. It’s a great picture spot – and our guide Esmer showed us the best spots to get even better pictures!
Afterwards, we had free time to enjoy a scenic coffee or visit the Dervish House (you have to pay extra to get inside).

Described as “a place where the blue-green beauty of the Neretva passes through a narrow natural channel created a thousand years ago”, we didn’t know what to expect.
Firstly, there’s this this cool channel with rushing water. Secondly, there is water on two levels producing a line of small waterfalls. All in all a super picturesque place.

Pocitelj is a Medieval town that is often referred to as Bosnia and Herzegovina’s open-air museum. Think of cute cobblestone alleys with an Ottoman feel – complete with a mosque and a clock tower. The highlight is the fortress.
We had ample free time to explore and Esmer pointed out the best vantage point for us. From this point of the fortress, you can see the whole town of Pocitelj which is shaped like a natural amphitheatre as well as the Neretva River.

At Kravice Waterfalls, the Trebižat River plunges down 28 meters (92 ft) along a 120-meter-wide (394 ft) slope. Because of fertile soil around the waterfalls, numerous plant species are able to thrive here. In short: This place with its many waterfalls and lush greenery is stunning.
You can have a swim, a drink or a proper meal – prices for food are rather high though…

On the outskirts of Mostar, there’s a small War Museum where our guide Esmer gave a short explanation of the latest war.

We absolutely loved this tour! We went in expecting to get easy access to the three highlights of the area:
What we got was so much more.
Firstly, we loved the three stops that weren’t the reason for our booking:
Secondly, we absolutely loved our guide. Esmer was super professional and friendly. He explained so much about everything – from his personal story to the history of the country, from the best picture spots to the best places to eat. Additionally, he was super hospitable. It was super windy at the skywalk so Esmer invited us for a coffee to give his explanations in the warmth.
All of Esmer’s explanations made the drives (which were not very long to begin with) super interesting. In between his commentary, we listened to different styles of Bosnian music.
We had enough time at each and every stop – be it to take photos, have a snack, or even swim at the Kravice Waterfalls.
We think this tour was a full 5/5 – and if you know us, you know that we are:
A) A bit picky.
B) Honest if we didn’t like something.
We just liked everything about this tour…

This tour was incredible from start to finish. Esmer, our guide, was absolutely brilliant. His passion was genuine and I learned so much about the history, geography and all aspects of life in Bosnia-Herzegovina. All the sites visited were stunning, and I felt we had enough time at all of them. I enjoyed the fact this tour is with a small group (we were 8), as it allows great interactions between the group and with the guide. Many people asked Esmer questions that allowed him to share great insights on life in Bosnia-Herzegovina. The visit of Mostar war museum at the end was very special, and I love Esmer's perspective and fairness in describing such a difficult period. I can't recommend this tour enough! Well worth the money!

The tour we did includes:
In all honesty, this was the best tour we did on our whole Balkans trip. Normally, we are more than happy to use day trips for convenience. On this tour, our tour guide Esmer made the experience so much better than that!
The value for money is amazing, even if you don’t take into account the amazing guide and just treat it as a shuttle.
The Discover Herzegovina Tour is great for travellers who
We stayed at Apartments "M&M". The location is crazy good – super close to the bus station and within easy walking distance to the city centre. Value for money was simply amazing.
