Kawasan Falls canyoneering looks wild, but it’s surprisingly doable, incredibly fun, and one of those Cebu experiences that lives up to the hype – even if you’re not a thrill-seeker.
If you’re planning a trip to Cebu, chances are you’ve come across Kawasan Falls Canyoneering – also known as Badian Canyoneering – and wondered: Is it really worth it? Is it safe? And do I need to be super adventurous to enjoy it?
We had the exact same questions before booking. Online, the experience is often described as extreme and adrenaline-packed – which can be a little intimidating if you’re not a full-on daredevil. At the same time, it’s one of the most talked-about activities around Moalboal, so skipping it felt like a risk too.
That’s why we decided to try it ourselves and share our honest, first-hand experience. In this blog post, we’ll walk you through what actually happens on a Kawasan Falls canyoneering tour, what surprised us, what we loved, and who we think it’s really for – so you can decide if it’s the right fit for your trip
We can fully recommend this Canyoneering Experience in Kawasan Falls with Lunch:
This is the itinerary of the Canyoneering Experience in Kawasan Falls we went on:
We were picked up right on time in the morning and driven to the starting point. There, we could safely store our belongings and were provided with all the necessary canyoneering gear.
You can either walk or zipline to the start of the canyon (zipline costs extra). We chose to walk. We were told it would take around 45 minutes, but in reality, it was closer to 15 minutes and very manageable.

The canyoneering starts with a 4 m (15 ft) jump – which was the only mandatory jump.
Afterwards, we moved through the canyon for around 3 hours. Time kind of disappeared because we were having so much fun. We swam, floated, scrambled, moved (and were pushed) down waterslides, we played in rapids and smaller waterfalls – and had a great time.
Along the way, there are five to six optional jumps, going up to about 10 meters (30 ft). None of them are mandatory, and there’s zero pressure to do anything you’re not comfortable with.
There’s also an optional Tarzan swing for an extra fee, which we skipped – but it’s there if you’re feeling braver than us.

At the end of the canyoneering, we reached Kawasan Falls. We floated around for a bit, but we weren’t allowed to take our life jackets off, and it was quite crowded (the picture below was taken at a good moment from a good angle). While it’s undeniably beautiful, this part wasn’t the highlight for us – especially compared to everything we’d just experienced in the canyon.

The short walk from Kawasan Falls back to the main road flew by as we kept on chatting with our guide, e.g. about how one of the bridges on our way was built by a fellow German.
We were brought back to the starting point, where we could change into dry clothes before we got to our lunch spot. We remember the lunch being super yummy, but maybe that was also because we were famished after our canyoneering adventure.
When we arrived back in Moalboal in the early afternoon, we were tired but happy.
Badian or Kawasan Falls canyoneering is one of those activities that sounds a little terrifying on paper but ends up being one of the highlights of a Cebu trip. Short version: we loved it. Long version? Here it is.
One thing that immediately stood out was that we had one guide per person. Not one guide for a group. Not one guide trying to keep track of the chaos. One guide, just for us. From the very beginning, it felt safe, personal, and surprisingly relaxed.
Our guide was incredible. He constantly checked in with us, helped us whenever we needed it, and adjusted the whole experience to our comfort and adventure level. We told him we didn’t want to go too extreme, so our highest jump was 4 meters, which felt like the perfect amount of action for us.
And then there was the phone situation. We’d read online that the devil works hard, but these tour guides work harder – and honestly, that’s not an exaggeration. Our guide took what felt like a million photos and videos, all while scrambling over rocks, swimming through rapids, and casually holding a phone above water like it was nothing. We died about a thousand imaginary deaths watching that phone come close to disaster, but somehow it survived. Respect.

We had a wonderful time during our canyoning experience. Everything was perfectly organised from start to finish, which allowed us to fully relax and enjoy the adventure. Thank you so much for the great organisation and for making us feel so welcome throughout the day.
A special thank you to the two guides Deter and eMac, who were truly professional, friendly, and supportive—they made the experience even more special. I highly recommend this canyoning experience with this company without a doubt!

Yes – absolutely. Kawasan Falls canyoneering is exciting without being overwhelming, and that’s what makes it so special. You don’t have to be an adrenaline junkie to enjoy it; the experience is flexible, well-guided, and lets you choose how far you want to push yourself. Whether you’re in it for the adventure, the scenery, or just trying something new in Cebu, this tour delivers a memorable day that feels adventurous and accessible at the same time.
We stayed at The Backyard Inn and loved it. They have a dorm and private rooms as well as a super cosy common area with hammocks and a bar. The whole place feels super homely.
