If you’re searching for the best way to explore the Troodos Mountains from Paphos, you’ve probably realised it’s not that simple on your own. You get to see hidden gems like Panayia Chrysorrogiatissa Monastery, the iconic Kykkos Monastery, and the charming wine village of Omodos, without worrying about directions or parking, but with an excellent guide instead.
We’ll walk you through what to expect, so you can decide if this tour is worth it for your Cyprus trip – spoiler: it totally is.
We chose this from Paphos: Chrysoroyiatissa, Kykkos and Omodos Day Trip
This is the itinerary for the Chrysoroyiatissa, Kykkos and Omodos Day Trip that we took.
Our first stop of the day was Panayia Chrysorrogiatissa Monastery, dedicated to the Virgin Mary. It’s a quiet 12th-century place tucked into the hills with beautiful old icons, detailed frescoes, and amazing views over the valley. Take a few minutes to wander, breathe, and enjoy the calm before heading deeper into the Troodos Mountains.

Next up is the famous Kykkos Monastery, the most important (and definitely the most impressive) monastery in Cyprus. It’s known for its incredible gold mosaics, colourful frescoes, and religious artwork everywhere you look.
Inside, there’s also a museum packed with old manuscripts, artefacts, and church treasures, which provides a fascinating glimpse into Cyprus’ Orthodox history.

The Cypriot buffet-style lunch is optional – it consists of souvla, halloumi, homemade village bread, seasonal salads, and other typical dishes. If you’re in the mood, you can pair it with a tasting of local wines.
Next, we drove to Omodos and visited the Timios Stavros Monastery, a key religious spot said to hold a piece of the Holy Cross. The ornate interior is beautiful!

Last but not least, we explored the town of Omodos, one of Cyprus’ prettiest and most historic wine villages. We had free time to stroll along its charming cobbled streets, peek into stone-built houses, and check out the little craft shops selling lace, pottery, and tasty local treats.

We had such a great time on this tour. Our guide was friendly, knowledgeable, and made each stop interesting without ever feeling rushed. The mix of guided time and free time was perfect – enough to learn about the monasteries and villages, but also to explore at our own pace and take pictures. Every stop felt thoughtful, from the serene Panayia Chrysorrogiatissa Monastery to the small streets of Omodos, and even the optional lunch was a nice break. Overall, it felt like a well-planned, seamless day with just the right balance of culture, scenery, and relaxation.

PERFECT! Sofia who was our guide was really good informed about everything. She took care of every detail. We would recommend everyone to go on this daily trip. You cannot visit all of these things any other way, but with a guided tour or by car and if you decide to go by car, it is not the same. you're probably asking why? Because the guide especially local one can tell you stories, legends, information that you cannot find on Google or in any video. There was enough time on every location we visited. They even consider us taking the rest, lunch, souvenirs, toilets, etc. When you compare the price and the quality, this is the best daily excursion that you can get yourself. SOFIA thank you for everything.

Absolutely! This tour is by far the most convenient way to see the highlights of the Troodos Mountains without renting a car. You get access to remote monasteries and picturesque villages you couldn’t easily reach by public transport.
What really elevates the experience is the amazing guide that shares information you will find in no guidebook! Overall, the value for money is simply excellent.
Whether you’re into history or scenery, this tour delivers – highly recommended if you want to see the Troodos in one stress-free, unforgettable day.
We stayed at Leonardo Plaza Cypria Maris Beach Hotel & Spa, which – while it was certainly not high-end – was very reasonably priced. We actually paid less than we would on a typical day with a nice dinner and a night out.
