TL;DR

You have two days in Ninh Binh, we have the perfect itinerary for you! You can reach all places by bicycle or scooter if you want to!

We spent two amazing days in Ninh Binh – we pedalled through breathtaking karst landscapes, glided through serene rivers on a boat trip, and uncovered ancient temples and hidden caves. From birdwatching at Thung Nham Bird Valley to climbing the dragon viewpoint at Mua Cave, our adventure was as picturesque as it was peaceful.

If the thought of navigating Vietnam’s chaotic roads on a scooter makes your heart race (and not in a good way), don’t worry—you’re not alone! In Ninh Binh, it’s easy to ditch the scooters and explore on bicycles instead.

If you’re ready to plan your own bicycle-friendly Ninh Binh adventure, let’s dive into the ultimate 2-day Ninh Binh itinerary!

Ninh Binh 2 Day Itinerary

We have written a full Ninh Binh travel guide including everything you need to know about Ninh Binh:

Day 1 – Boat Trip, Bich Dong Pagoda, and Thung Nham Bird Valley

Morning – Ninh Binh Boat Trip

Start your day with a boat trip along the rivers and caves of Ninh Binh. While many travellers choose to do the boat ride directly in Tam Coc, we recommend Linh Coc to beat the crowds (we have marked the spot on our map).

Afternoon – Bich Dong Pagoda, and Thung Nham Bird Valley

Cycle on to Bich Dong Pagoda, a series of mountain and cave temples.

If you still have the time and energy, head to Thung Nham Bird Valley where you can spot over 45 bird species and explore more caves.

Day 2 – Mua Cave, Trang An and Hoa Lu Ancient Capital

Morning – Mua Cave

Grab your bike and head to another of the highlights of the Ninh Binh region: Mua Cave. Climb to the famous dragon viewpoint, explore Hang Mua, and snap a picture at the lotus lake boardwalk.

Bucketlist2life tip: In case you’re craving another boat ride, you can stop in Trang An on the way.

Don’t miss out on taking in the scenery while biking! Thai Vi Temple is a nice little hidden gem to end your day.

Where We Stayed in Ninh Binh

We stayed at Quang Quang Garden Bonsai Homestay and could not recommend it any more. The location in Tam Coc is great and the room is comfy. The owners were amazing – we even had dinner with them. They also provided us with our rental bicycles.
