Famagusta Tour from Ayia Napa

When booking a Famagusta trip, make sure that you will actually enter the ghost town. Not all Famagusta tours will, but of course, our two picks do 😉

Varosha used to be a famous holiday resort in the 1970s. It became abandoned in 1974. Homes, hotels, shops, and bars remain empty since then.

1. Red Bus Varosha Experience

Why choose this tour? The Red Bus Varosha experience in English from Ayia Napa is the og Famagusta Ghost Town Tour. The tour is designed to allow you the maximum time to explore Varosha. After the drive from Ayia Napa to Famagusta, you can explore the streets, have a snack or relax on the beautiful beaches.

The tour guide will provide an exclusive map with information about relevant buildings.

Superb trip , would recommend ! Great value for money:

Hayley was a brilliant guide , shared interesting information throughout our journey and we had 2 hours to explore the ghost town . Chance to walk the streets , whilst others hired electric scooters. Little dip in the sea and a few drinks on the beach . This is a fascinating place , definitely make sure you book on the ‘original ‘ red bus. The windy road was a perfect way to cool down , thanks Mark ! They even supplied us with water. Top trip

Because we travelled out of season we found it very difficult to access tours locally. I had used Get Your Guide previously so decided to look on their website and found just what we were looking for. We had a shared minibus with just one other couple; the itinerary was exactly as described and our driver Chris was friendly, efficient and informative. We were picked up and dropped off at the front door of our hotel so couldn’t have been more convenient. Really couldn’t fault it.

We had and excellent tour of Nicosia, I was resigned to the fact that we would be travelling for some time but when our guide got on the bus she talked us all through the history of Cyprus which was so interesting and made the journey shoot by. The tour was well balanced with a guided walking tour and time on our own to explore. Crossing the green line is quite an experience and free lemonade and halloumi pastries are waiting for you on the otherside! I was in two minds about this trip as it was a whole day and quite a trek but it was fantastic, interesting and I'm so glad I booked it!
